Meet Kelli

Playtime Party Tents Uncategorized

Hello! I am a mom of three energetic girls. They keep me busy. I tend to reminisce about my childhood during their life milestones. Sleepovers with my best friends are a highlight. Childhood moves fast and I want my girls to remember all the magical milestones, whether that be birthdays, holidays, cousin sleepovers or grandparent sleepovers. With Covid-19 hitting our world this past year, I had to think of a fun way to celebrate my oldest birthday. A little research and I found the “tent” idea. I quickly made four for her and her friends. They were a hit! My goal is to share this magical experience with my community in a time that has limited our children’s worlds.

I am a native to Iowa. I moved to Minnesota about 20 years ago. I came to Minnesota to attend college, little did I know I would meet my husband, land a career, start a family, and become a SAH mommy! From Ely to St Cloud to Apple Valley, I have experienced some great outdoor camping experiences! (I would not recommend Winter camping) I am excited to embark on this adventure and hope to play a little part in making your little one’s smile.

Kelli & JoanLate summer I got a phone call from Pitched Mpls, they had an idea.  That idea grew to me taking over their Tiny Tent business.  It has been nothing but wonderful working with Pitched Mpls.  They have been so kind and gracious and honestly some of the nicest people I have met.  Business, for me, is all about relationships.  I work with only the best.

Pitched Mpls called me at the perfect time.  A few days prior to them calling I had lost a dear friend, Joan.  I tell you this because Joan was a big part of PTPT getting started. When I told Joan about my “crazy idea” she was the friend who said, “You Go Girl.”  On a random Tuesday, I called Joan on my way home from Joann Fabric.  I asked her to come over ASAP, as I needed her to show me how to sew and set up my sewing machine that I had purchased 10 minutes ago.  Of course, I didn’t buy a good enough machine, so we made a few more shopping trips.  You see, I knew nothing!  Joan NEVER did spontaneous adventures, but on that random day she did!  We stayed up all night and made two tents.  It was one of my favorite memories of Joan.  After that day we met up weekly so she could teach me just one more thing.  After Joan passed I had a hard time looking at my sewing machine.  How on earth will I figure this all out?  Then Pitched called.  Maybe it was a coincidence, maybe not.  Either way, I am grateful for Joan and Pitched Mpls.  They gave me my push.

Joan is dearly missed.

Please note PTPT is not affiliated with Pitched Mpls.

Show Them Success

Playtime Party Tents Uncategorized

I have always been creative. I remember having a conversation with my Dad growing up about my dream job.  I was maybe 14 or 15 and I had this vision of me living in NYC designing store front windows.  In high school I worked for a local frame shop, Picture This.  I got to redesign the store front window with chosen pieces to highlight that month, it was such a joy.  To create a familiar space into something new was exciting and rewarding.  Giving new life to a space changes the mood, changes thought and changes inspiration.

Throughout college I bartended and waitressed.  I have loved working in the hospitality industry.  I always enjoyed customer service and meeting new people.  After college I worked for a government agency, always finding myself volunteering on committees for employee engagement.

I am very thankful I took the leap, with the help of a push to start PTPT, tiny tents.  It has been nothing but fun.  Creating new themes, new décor, and new fun!  Tiny Tents have been a blast for my kids as well.  They help me gather and organize for deliveries.  Occasionally one of them will ride with me to pick up.  I think it is important for kids to know what we do, how to act with customers and how to get involved in our community.  Show them success, which always comes with trials and tribulations. Very cliché but “if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.”

Tiny Tents is Born

Playtime Party Tents Uncategorized

In early 2020 my husband and I traveled to the Czech Republic to visit family. A close relative was playing on a Czech basketball team. One of his teammates was having a party set up for his daughter, tents. This was fascinating to me; I had never heard of such a thing in the States. Day two of our trip my husband was not feeling well, high fever, body aches and any other flu-like symptoms you could think of. You guessed it, he had what we now call Covid-19, but at the time it was not on Americans radar. We only know it was Covid-19 because when we went home I lost all smell and taste (which wasn’t a symptom yet). Italy was shutting down, airports were closing, at this point we didn’t know if we would get home. We made it home.

Fast forward a year. After a year of lock down my daughter was craving to see her friends. That is when I thought of these tiny tent parties in the Czech. Genius. Kids will be semi separated while sleeping and have their own little area. We had a mini sleep over with a couple of her close friends. I bought a sewing machine and made a couple tents. Tiny Tents were born.

Now Is the Time

Playtime Party Tents Uncategorized

You Guys!

Hello.  I am so excited for this new adventure.  I have always loved a good party, hosting, and designing.  Party planning has always been a thought in my mind; however, life and business took me in other directions.  BUT NOW IS THE TIME to jump in and have some fun.  I have loved planning my kids’ parties and am enthused to do the same for others.  One thing I have always looked for is a KISS (keep it simple sweetie) event while still giving a WOW feel.  I hope my clients find peace and tranquility while throwing a party to remember.

I hope you join me in this adventure!

Glamp it up,

Kelli
